Let’s fight anti-trans book bans! Postcard writing party
Join Michelle and Authors Against Book Bans to fight anti-trans book bans!
We will be writing postcards to our representatives to fight 2 national anti-trans book bans being proposed in the House and the Senate:
HR 7661: seeks to ban from every public school in the country any book that includes “sexually oriented material.” Included in that definition are any books that involve “gender dysphoria or transgenderism.”
SB 2617: mandates that any school receiving federal funds require parental permission before using a student’s preferred gender, pronouns, or name, or allowing them to use the bathroom or locker room that most aligns with their identity. The bill also prohibits the teaching of “gender ideology” as defined by Trump’s Executive Order 14168.
Bring your friends and your rage, Michelle will supply the materials. All ages welcome!

Authors Against Book Bans: Postcard Writing Party at On Waverly
Join Michelle and Authors Against Book Bans for a postcard writing party at On Waverly in San Francisco!
We will be writing postcards to our local representatives about HR 7661, a nationwide book ban bill that targets marginalized communities. It’s a blatant violation of the 1st amendment, and extreme government overreach. HR 7661 made it through committee and will be up for a vote in the House…but not if we can kill it before it gets there.
Please join us in fighting for our right to read and create! Bring 5 stamps to share if you can!
